Dried Flowers – a blast from the past

Whether you love them or loathe them, dried flowers are making a big come back and are one of this seasons’ hottest floral and interior styling trends.

Since we’ve spent so much time at home lately and with little else to spend our money on, home styling has become increasingly important to us with florals and foliage taking centre stage.

Some of us will remember the faded, crispy creations of the 80s/90s adorning corn dolls, baskets and straw hats, gathering dust, but recently dried flowers have been popping up all over Instagram feeds, Pinterest boards, Facebook stories and interior styling magazines and blogs.

Bold and bright, minimalist neutrals, rustic farmhouse, eclectic style, Parisian chic and neon pops of carnival colour. Dried, preserved, dyed, painted flowers and grasses – the varieties and styles are endless to suit most tastes.

They are the perfect low maintenance and value for money option for instantly injecting a style change in your homes. They can be displayed on their own or mixed in with fresh or silk stems and the choice of containers isn’t restricted to ones that can hold water or location isn’t dictated by availability of natural light since they need neither.

Here at Hacketts Florist and Gifts we are fully embracing the new trend and adding our own special twist. We’ve styled a dried flower wedding, added dried stems into some of our gift bouquets and we have made a wide selection of ready to buy dried and silk arrangements in unique, unusual and traditional containers perfect for gifts or just to treat yourself. We can also make dried arrangements based on your ideas and personal preferences.
